The Big Waste of Space: Bragging Rights

Every site has its awards page that nobody reads. Here's mine. Hey, and since you've gotten this far, you may as well be the lone misfit and finish the whole thing.

By the way, if you're aware of a mention that isn't listed here, please let me know. Most of these publications didn't even tell me.

Yahoo Internet Life. My biggest honor to date! As part of their June 2002, 12-page roundup of "The Web's Funniest Sites," The Big Waste of Space is included with a little sample from It's a Sign! Game-show host Ben Stein even refers to me in his forward as a "flat-broke sex maniac in need of a good Web-based business plan and a few more inches of manhood." At least, I think he was talking about me.

[Yahoo Internet Life] Yahoo Internet Life. The site's first mention in print. Page 56 of the February 2000 issue, under Extreeemely Specialized, The Flubs of Jurassic Park makes its national debut. Check out the clipping.

Yahoo Pick of the Week. My traffic hits an all-time high when Yahoo honors The Big Waste of Space as a Pick of the Week for April 3, 2000 and defines it a "mixed-media slacker masterpiece."

Impact Mathematics. The nation's educators shudder as I wield influence over 11-to-13-year-olds. One of my photos is published in a middle-school math book! See the page from the book, then read the Photologue entry.

Rouze.com Site of the Day. Playboy's "Unapologetically Male" affiliate site dedicates a whole day to The Big Waste of Space. I had never been so close to so many naked women. Well, there's always Legends...

The Australian. The daily Australian national newspaper featured The Big Waste of Space as the leading site in its July 11th, 2000 Net Cruiser review titled "The Idle Seeking the Useless." Looks like The Big Waste of Space is big down under!
[WGN Morning News] WGN Morning News. On April 11, 2000, America awoke to see the ugliest picture ever taken of me. Despite that, and the fact that WGN kept saying the name of the site was "Bigwaste Dot Com" and their implication that I was not entirely responsible for the site — Hey! National TV, Baby!

USA Today Hot Site. The Big Waste of Space is honored by USA Today, which crowns it a Hot Site for April 4, 2000.

Marshall Brain's HowStuffWorks. Who knew anyone would ever take this site seriously? Looks like The Big Waste of Space passes as a legitimate scientific reference — at least for HowStuffWorks and their article on How Bats Work. Apparently, my article on Austin's Congress Avenue Bats proved valuable for the section titled Beasts or Boon?

The Campus Rag. "America's Wholesome Campus News Source" reviews this site alongside the summer feature Shanghai Noon. The Big Waste of Space gets an A-, Jackie Chan gets a B.
